Genesis of Oidy
The idea for Oidy came to me like the truest call of Intuition - suddenly, out of nowhere, violently, and it overwhelmed me completely.
I felt it more than I understood it, like a dream slipping away after waking. I knew it was to meant to be about eyes, about the power of Intention, about protection. The name Oidy came to me instantly.
It was a winter morning in Amsterdam, I was immersed in depression, shortly after a nervous breakdown. This concept appeared like a spark in the darkness and filled me with joy, I felt with all my being that I had to follow it, that it was my path. I surrendered to it, even though I didn't know where it would lead. Initially, it was only about tattoos, but quickly Oidy spread throughout my creative practice and life.
Working around Oidy is my journey from the depths of despair towards light and love.
The name "Oidy" is inspired by the Polish word "Oczy" (Eyes), the English phrase "the Odds" (chances of success), and as I later realized, the suffix -oid is used to create nouns meaning "similar to, like" with a suggestion of incomplete or imperfect resemblance to the main element: human + oid = humanoid (resembling a human, but not exactly the same).
Thanks to Oidy, I can observe what the human eye cannot see. Noticing that although everything is a conglomerate of the same stardust and light,
at the simultaneously nothing ever repeats.
OIDY
MAGICAL EYES.
BORN OUT OF LOVE
TO DO GOOD
AND GRANT WISHES.
I AM THEIR MOTHER,
QUEEN AND PRIESTESS.
FOLLOWING INTUITION,
I FANTASIZE ABOUT THE ELEMENTS
OF AN EYE, USING IT AS
A SYMBOL OF PROTECTION
AND DIVINITY.
I BESTOWE POWER ON THEM
THROUGH THE INTENTION,
AND THEY BECOME VEHICLES
OF THE ENERGY IN WHICH
THEY WERE CONCEIVED.
